Vantage Point: West ridge of Mount Cook

Caption: In 1980 Wedgemount Glacier still terminated in the lake

PhotoDescr: Earlier in the summer I had climbed the North arete of Wedge Mountain. We had ascended to below the dark cliffs, then diagonally up above the big crevasses to the base of the arete. This photo was taken later on a weekend trip to Paternoster Lakes. On the last day I climbed a diagonal ledge on the northside of the West ridge of Mount Cook and gained this view of Wedgemount Lake.
