|Based in Smithers, B.C., Christoph Dietzfelbinger is an ACMG/UIAGM mountain guide. Originally from the Alps, he has offered guided trips and instruction in the northwest since 1986. He actually is the only resident mountain guide in Canada west and north of Jasper! So from Mount Logan to the granite cliffs at Copper Mountain near Terrace and from the Babines to the Seven Sisters, he's your local expert.|
Christoph has been a guide for 21 years and likes climbing every bit as much as when he started. To accompany guests on whatever trip meets their needs and plans is what guiding means to him. Whether it's a steep waterfall climb or a stroll through mountain meadows, a three week expedition to Mount Logan or a three day hike through the Babine Mountains, an introduction to rock climbing or a trip to the Bugaboos - it's all in a guide's work, and he loves it as much as you do.
In 2001, another crazy dream came true: with permission from the First Nation, Christoph and his friends built the Burnie Glacier Chalet in the Howson Range. A timber frame lodge with two good woodstoves and comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen - now where is home?
Christoph has run avalanche safety programs for many winters and likes to share his experience with guests in basic and advanced avalanche courses. He is also a mountain guides' instructor for the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides.
