Black Knight Ski Tour

Quick skin up west facing gully or coloir between black mountain and a SW sub-peak.
Given Kelowna had received multiple large snowfalls over the course of January and the backcountry had not yet settled down we decided on tagging Black Mountain and skiing the west facing gulley. Snow was about 20 cm deep at the start, and to our suprise we found ski tracks already laid in the gulley, likely from the previous day. Snow depth increased to nearly 120 cm at the summit, with large variation in coverage depending on cross loading and whether an area had thick tree cover. A fun trip if you don't have much time and can spare some rock skis, as there was some nefarious rock sharks down lower, but we were able to avoid any real damage as the area is mostly grass in the lower section. Riding among sage brush added to the novelty and so for the desperate, this trip could be worthwhile during a good snow year.
