The first time I visited the Lizzie Lake Area was new Years 1995. It was a cold clear weekend and I had to park at the start of the Lizzie Creek road. In the afternoon I skied through ever more frigid shadows and reached Lizzie Lake in 5 hours. There I followed some old ski tracks across the ice to the eastend of the lake and set up my tent on the banks of the creek in the forest. The next morning the old tracks led more to the west into dense forest, but I found easier open slopes to the east from where I traversed into Gates of Shangri La from the south. I then climbed Anemone peak and had lunch at my ski depot in warm sun. Afterwards I made an extra skirun before returning to my camp in icy shadows. The last morning I skied out the flat road in 2 hours.

I stopped for lunch at Gates of Shangri La and reached Arrowhead Lake in early afternoon. After setting up my tent on a dry spot to the west I skied up Tabletop. Later after dinner I had...
