Sootip and meadow ramble
Timestamp Free: 2020.04.05 - 16:22:05
Ranges: North America Ranges / Pacific Cordillera Range / Coast Mountains / Pacific Ranges
  (2 days)     Elevation Gain: 1200m
Difficulty: 1: Easy meadows. Little bit of loose rock, but overall a walkup.
Hike up to the meadows east of Sootip then a summer, out via meadows ramble the next day.
Drove up branch 5 off the Soo FSR - good condition, probably any car with a little bit of care in 1 or 2 places. Park at the end of the short spur heading east at the final Y in the road. Followed dirt bike / bike trail up to meadows ESE of Sootip. Camped in the meadows - lots of tarns and places for tents. Views of Whistler and Pemberton. Wandered up the E / ENE side of Sootip, pretty easy going. Worst was a little bit of loose rock (dogs made it no help). Followed a somewhat less defined and variably flagged route down the meadows heading E - seems to be mostly a MTB trail. Lots and lots of tarns, and wonderful meadow rambling opportunity. Eventually it comes back off the wide ridge and back into a well defined trail that loops back to the end of the spur that heads right at the last Y in the road. There is a small cabin there (seems mostly dirt bikers / snowmobilers and people who like to target practice into the hills stay here, has a wood stove, and could probably fit 6-8 people?). Short logging road back to car. Overall beautiful views / payoff for a pretty short hike....
