A hike up Mount Corriveau from a new logging spur in the Centre Creek valley
Having read some info last week on Clubtread about new road in the Centre Creek Valley, Asia, Luna and I decided to give it a go. The weather forecast was cloudy with sunny breaks later on in the afternoon. Having not been up Centre Creek before, I had spent some time beforehand waypointing all of the intersections so I knew where to drive. Centre Creek road is in pretty good shape, but it has a few waterbars that require some clearance.
Just before the 2nd bridge across Centre Creek, we passed by some guy who was setting up quite a display of firearms on tables, perhaps for people to try out? Rifle demo days? Fortunately we did not hear much gunfire on our hike.
After a couple of wrong turns we soon found "Awesome Road" which took us to approx. 1100m elevation. Some of the waterbars were pretty deep which caused the trailer hitch on my stock Xterra to scrape a couple of times.

I thought that going up the left edge of the clearcut would make sense, and it was steep but pretty easy going with what looked like a trail in places.

Once entering the forest, the steepness remained but the bush was minimal. Occasionally there would be a game trail that would go diagonally and you could follow it for a bit, but it was mostly pick your line and head straight up the hill.

There was a bit of a clearing providing some views at about 1560m, and then after that it got a bit bushier with a few more downed trees. Snow started quite high at around 1800m, just shortly below the ridgeline.
