Snow Lake near Snoqualmie Mountain
Timestamp Free: 2020.02.26 - 05:31:21
Ranges: North America Ranges / Pacific Cordillera Range / Cascade Range / Washington Cascades
  (1 days)     Elevation Gain: 400m
Participants: Jon Polak, AMGA Ski Guide
Difficulty: 2: This was my first backcountry ski trip. Conditions were quite icy making the up really hard.
Day trip from Seattle. Snow can be heavy and conditions can be icy on north faces.
It's about 40 minutes form Seattle, conditions could be marginal if there isn't enough snow.

Park in the Alpental ski resort lot, as far north as you can. Trial starts right form the parking lot. The winter trail follows the south side of the valley because the summer trail passes under significant overhead hazard.

You'll reach a lake that should be frozen, but, I wouldn't traverse it, just go around. It's not a big lake. Then continue upwards towards the shoulder between Chair peak and Snoqualmie mountain.

You can continue up to Chair peak, or Snoqualmie, or simply ski down to snow lake along the north facing slope. The skiing wasn't great.

We skiied down from around the shoulder to Snow Lake. (this one should be frozen). Skin up again at the lake.

The way back was a grind. Very icy along the north face. Ski crampons would have helped....
