From Upper Joffre Lake, climb south up onto the lower Matier Glacier. Then cut west across the glacier to the ridge that separates the Matier Glacier from the Stonecrop Glacier. (The northeast ridge of Slalok). Then follow this northeast ridge south and then west to the final peak. The final stretch you are above the Stonecrop glacier.
If you tried to predict possible routes looking only at the map, you might think you could climb Slalok by first going all the way to the Spetch-Slalok col and then up the Slalok East ridge. But apparently that route has cliffs. The only easy route is up the curved Northeast ridge, which divides the Stonecrop and Matier... To see the full trip report you must login as a paid member.
