The initial plan was to skin up to the top of Hollyburn Peak but very poor visibility and heavy snowfall only allowed us to get about 3/4 of the way to the top. The peak was completely socked in so we decided to turn back while we could still see instead of continuing onwards. The skin track was well established at the beginning of the day by a few groups of skiers who were up earlier that morning, but the heavy snowfall almost completely covered any evidence of it by the time we were were ready to head down.

There was about half a meter of fresh sugary snow from the recent snow fall, and more coming down throughout the day. We were curious about the snow stability so we decided to inspect the snow pack before heading down. After digging a pit and doing a compression test snow pack ended up being surprisingly stable on the slope we would be skiing.

Overall it was a successful day, even though we didn't make it to the peak, the snow was spectacular on the way down....
