I'd been part of two previous plans to paddle and hike Della Falls, but when they both fell through, I was determined enough to see the trip through that I organized it myself this time. The plan we ended up with was that the 3 of us would paddle in from Great Central, and my mom and her husband would start from Bedwell Lakes. They had more glacier experience and would carry some of that gear that they could give to us, as well giving us some beta. Their plan was Bedwell Lakes for the first night, Love Lake for the second night, via Septimus Col, then the trailhead campsite for the third, and paddling out on the last day (though they ended up starting to paddle on Day 3 and made it to the dead forest beach we described having to hide from the weather on in our way in).
With the fire bans, Island Timberlands had closed their gate to Scout Beach, which cuts down 1/4 of the distance. Reportedly if you can get a key from BC Hydro, you can get to the hydro station, which would cut down about 1/3 of the paddle, though I don't know if they ever give out keys.
The water taxi guy said 600 people hiked to the falls last year, maybe a few groups did an overland route to Buttle Lake, and he himself taxi'd approx 250 people. The rest either used a private motorized boat, or else paddled.
