Most parties approach from the Peter and Cathatine Whyte hut. Ski roped. Ascend into the southern part of the heavily-crevassed basin between Mt. Habel and Mt. Baker, aiming for the col on the continental divide (51:39.3- 116:35.1). The last part of this slope is often wind-blasted and icy, but unless conditions are truly poor, crampons shouldn't be required. Hike the west ridge to where it intersects the north-south trending summit ridge. You'll be able to ski sections. Leave your skis and scramble south along the rocks to the penultimate high point, which is separated from the slightly higher, true summit by a narrow cleft. The summit tower (51:38.8-116:34.2 ) is a bit out of the comfort zone for most folks wearing ski boots, so the last but one bump on the ridge suffices.
