Wedge NW Couloir Ski Descent in 1 day-revised

A one day tour from Blackcomb ski area to the summit of Wedge Mountain and ski descent of the NW colouir of Wedge.
Friday Night:
 We all had Saturday off so we called each other up Friday night to plan a trip for the next day. We wanted to ski something that we could do in a day. This way we could have light packs and be home that night. We also wanted something that we hadn't skied before. So we decided to go for Wedge NW Couloir. For those that don't know, it's the big couloir that you see from the highway 99. That's right, the one you keep looking at and say I'll ski that some day. Well we had had enough days of staring at the big sucker!

Simon and I dropped a car off at the Wedge parking lot that night. This way when we came down from Wedge, we could head straight to the nearest fast food restaurant and fuel up our tired and sore bodies. That night Simon and I made up a route plan for our trip. We would start from the Blackcomb ski area to avoid ascending the Wedge summer trail or Rethel Ridge.

 Kess picked up Simon and I in the morning. We went up the Blackcomb lifts and then exited the ski area boundary in Blackcomb Glacier. Weather: Sunny clear sky, Alpine temp 4.5 degrees, winds were calm

Time 9:00am
 From Blackcomb Glacier there was a perfect boot pack right to the top of the Spearhead Glacier. So we walked up pretty quick. We were now in our T-shirts, and were for the majority of the day. We then contoured the skiers left side of Spearhead Glacier. We then skied down to one of the heli skiing pick-ups where a creek went down to Wedge Creek. The creek is at grid 119-505. We got some decent turns from the bottom of the Spearhead to the heli pick up, ski pen of 20cm. We then proceeded to ski down the creek to meet up with Wedge Creek.

*Warning* this creek is pretty steep, confident skiers should only attempt it. This way was fast and technical, but...
