A probable first ascent of an Unnamed Peak (10,234'/3120 m)
First Ascent: Hangman Peak, located 8 km ESE of Coral Mountain (in First Range). The ascent party hiked in to the area south of the peak on July 5 via an ATV trail up Whitegoat Creek (aka Cline Creek) to camp in the upper part of the Littlehorn Creek valley. The next day they climbed up the SSW facing slopes of the peak on scree and snow to gain the summit ridge. After negotiating one minor cliff band, they climbed both the west and east summits, building a cairn on the most easterly (28.0/96.5) which was the highest by about 5 metres. Another summit 2 km to the NNE posed the possibility of a challenging traverse, but appeared significantly lower than the E summit. Descent 0.7 km down the ridge to the S allowed a scramble through a classic "hole-in-the-wall" formation (July 6)....
