Wedge Mountain - NW Couloir
Subject Mountain: Wedge Mountain
Difficulty: mainly 45 degree snow, with a short section of 50 degrees

Summary: The long wide couloir on the NW Face of Wedge Mountain. It drains into Rethel Creek and is visible from Whistler Village. Joins with West Ridge route at the top of the couloir.

Detail: The route is called "Wedge Couloir" in Kevin McLane's Alpine Select guidebook. The couloir gradually steepens as it ascends. The aproon below the couloir is mainly 40 degrees or less, then there is a long section of 45 degrees, and a short 50 degree section just below the top. There is no bergscrund to contend with and the cornice at the top can often be outflanked on either side.
