Morning Light on Khawachen Mountain # 9142

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2006.08.15
Vantage Point: Looking SW from the 2085-m summit north of Seel Lake

Caption: Easy and beautiful, Khawachen Mountain sprawls above the glaciers on its north side.

PhotoDescr: Depending on your point of view, this large, heavily glaciated peak is either one of the nicest between Bella Coola and Smithers or a complete waste of time. It's had several ascents, including a couple by the dead-easy right hand skyline. But the view from the top is splendid: Howson, Atna, Tsaydaychuz and many others are all clearly visible. And if you are approaching from the glaciers to the north, the meadows in the valley below are spectacular. Me? I think it's one of the nicest peaks in the seldom-visited Kemano region. Your taste may differ.
