Vantage Point: From the embankment at the west end of Lake Minnewanka

Caption: The northeast side of Cascade Mountain rises steeply from the Bow Valley.

PhotoDescr: The normal route up Cascade is the other side, from the Mount Norquay ski area road. The most common view is of the south east end of the mountain, visible from the Trans-Canada Highway and the railroad. From this viewpoint more of the mountain can be seen than from the other angles. A popular hiking trail called the C-Level Cirque trail leads up this side, toward the left. That trail passes the remains of abandoned coal mining operations.
