How Myths Are Born: Axcalibur, Cream Lake # 8669

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1989.08.08
Vantage Point: From the shores of Cream Lake toward Mt Septimus

Caption: Cream Lake and Mt Septimus, Strathcona Park.

PhotoDescr: In the late 1980s, not long after the protests that successfully prevented this lovely area from being rent asunder by mining, some friends and I visited Cream Lake for a bit of mountaineering.

Cream Lake had appeared on the cover of the official Strathcona Park brochure for many years, so on that hot summer afternoon it somehow seemed appropriate, in the context of the then-recent civil disobedience that saved this as part of the Park, to add to the legend by receiving an ice-axe thrust skyward from the crystalline depths by a lovely female arm. In the absence of same we had to make do with this rather hairy arm. But it's the thought that counts.

The date is a bit of a guess.
