Mount Louis - Southeast Aspect from Mouth of Gargoyle Valley # 760

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2001.08.30
Vantage Point: From north slopes of Mount Edith

Caption: The south and east faces of Mount Louis

PhotoDescr: The Kain Route climbs from lower right to the central buttress and up it. Several harder routes lie on the south face (left side of the mtn in the picture). Homage To The Spider, a classic sandbag at 5.8, follows the right skyline, more or less. The infamous diamond-shaped East Face headwall is still unclimbed. However, a vaguely controversial rappel bolting project is underway courtesy of Rockies hardman Eric Dumerac. It is worth noting that at least one, probably more, teams of strong, traditional climbers have abandoned ideas of a ground-up attempt on this feature upon close inspection.
