Melvin Peak - North Face # 7456

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.09.24
Vantage Point: From the east ridge of Downton SW5

Caption: The north face of Melvin Peak. The three forks of Upper Downton Creek can be seen below.

PhotoDescr: I had the pleasure of climbing this impressive peak at the head of the south fork of Downton Creek. It took a while for me to positively ID our route on the north ridge. It made more sense when I simply looked at the valley that we ascended. The north ridge is center left of the direct north face in this picture. We descended the east ridge which is the definitive left skyline. The steep snow slope visible was a great boot ski!
