Summer Flowers below Tricouni # 7332

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.08.09
Vantage Point: From one of the lakes to the south of Tricouni Peak

Caption: Some beautiful alpine flowers at the outlet of one of the many small lakes to the south, southwest of Tricouni

PhotoDescr: I took my 5-year-old son on his first backpacking trip this year to Tricouni meadows. I was looking for something that would not gain too much elevation yet still have a feeling of wilderness. Of course my pack was weighted down with most of the provisions, but I sure questioned how my son talked me into lugging up all his cars, trucks and dumptrucks too!

And I should mention about the mud. I read the trail reports about how muddy the trail into Tricouni meadows was, but I thought that after a month without rain it should be dry. Ooops. I tried to be all fatherly, "Now Coltrane, don't step in the mud." But a small mud patch in a size 12 boot sure is a whole lot bigger when you have a child's size 12. I thought he might disappear in the mud a few times but we did manage to make it through.
