Brandywine Meadows in Late Summer # 7314

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.09.05
Vantage Point: From Brandywine Meadows

Caption: Brandywine Meadows provides access to a number of ridges that lead to the summit of Brandywine Mountain.

PhotoDescr: The original plan was to summit Wedge, but the weather gods got involved and a couple of days of precipitation left considerable new snow on the higher peaks of the region. With a weather forecast that looked promising, we compromised with a shot at a new scrambling route on Brandywine--hoping the weather would cooperate.

Although our morning adventure started with clag, we did see the clouds burn off over the afternoon. The route we took to the summit went directly up through the meadows and then straight up the narrow notch climber's left of the prominent waterfall at the head of the valley. In this view, the notch is slightly viewer's left of the couple walking in the meadow. From the top of the notch, we wandered and scrambled through gentle, glaciated domes and connecting ridges to access the final prominent ridge that leads to Brandywine summit from the south.
