Mount Robson and the Robson River # 730

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2001.09.15
Vantage Point: From bank of river north of Highway 16 bridge

Caption: Mount Robson towers over its surroundings.

PhotoDescr: Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 meters, more than 3000 meters higher than the site of this photograph. Its enormous relief causes it to create its own weather, so that it is rarely seen against a cloudless blue sky. On this sunny autumn day, I was driving a load of household goods to my daughter in Vancouver, but just had to stop to take advantage of this classic photo opportunity.
