PhotoDescr: Brandywine Mountain has been on my list for a while now, whether it be a ski ascent or summer (probably both). I decided to check it out, since I was going solo, and didn't feel up to anything long this day. My brother and I had been up to the meadows at least 10 years ago, and I remember thinking it was a really nice place. Took advantage of having a high-clearance 4x4, and took advice from Matt Gunn's Scrambles book to get my way past the snowmobile cabin and to the very end of the spur. One other vehicle was parked there, and I passed the fellow and his dog during the first couple minutes hiking. No longer than 10-15 mins and I was at the meadows. A beautiful sight for sure, until I saw the dirt bike track that chewed its way up the trail towards the head of the valley. Brutal. Some spots where it was muddy had deep ruts from the tires. Seems no place is sacred. Anyhow, I continued on to the head of the valley, then up talus slopes to the west, gaining the ridge which led on to the summit, some 2 1/4 hours after leaving the truck. The clouds obscured some of the peaks surrounding me at times, so views were not as amazing as they could be, but they were still excellent. This was taken on my way back down, and the sun was shining on the meadows nicely. Black Tusk is obvious just right of center, and Castle Towers is on the left. I believe extreme left is Mount Davidson, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I like to know!
