Andromache from Bow Lake # 7145

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.08.01
Vantage Point: From Bow Glacier Falls trail

Caption: Mount Andromache is named for the companion of the hero Hector in Greek myth.

PhotoDescr: Although Mount Hector (not visible in this photo) was named after James Hector, the adjacent peak, officially unnamed, takes its appellation from the association of Hector and Andromache in Greek myth, particularly Homer's epic The Iliad.

On the third day of the 2005 August long weekend, I led a club group on the relatively short and gentle hike back to the 120 m Bow Glacier Falls.

The trail is a very popular half-day hike from Num-Ti-Jah Lodge. The first part of the route is the same as the access to Bow Hut, the Alpine Club of Canada Hut that is a base for climbing and ski-mountaineering in the Wapta Icefield.
