Melvin Peak Approach # 6891

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.07.03
Vantage Point: From alpine basin to the north

Caption: The spot where this picture was taken only took about an hour to reach from the landing on Br-3 of the Downton Creek road system. "Melvin Peak" aka "CY11 (Peak 8800 Downton Creek)" aka "Peak 33-13" aka "Delta Dawn", is at left with the class 2/3 east ridge on the left skyline. The peak in the foreground is about 7800', and while impressive looking from below is quite diminished from the summit of CY11.

PhotoDescr: Don Funk, Gerry Kollmuss, Fred Touche and I completed a traverse of this incredible peak in the Downton Creek area. We climbed the north ridge (very loose Class 3/4), and descended the east ridge (good to loose Class 2/3).
