Camp below North Face of Contralto Peak # 6787

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.06.05
Vantage Point: From basin above Lorna Lake

Caption: A soggy camp at the head of the northwest fork of Downton Creek.

PhotoDescr: Contralto Peak is a walk-up from most angles but offers some steepish ski runs on its north face. The peak and the area is mentioned in the 1990 CAJ, but has likely been well-travelled before that.

The meadowed and tarned basin at the head of this valley is filled with marmots and ptarmigans that will wake you up at about five in the morning with their shrieks and cries. Guess they probably don't see many yellow nylon structures in this area!
