East Knob of the Black Tusk in October # 6778

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1994.10.10
Vantage Point: From between the Black Tusk and the East Knob

Caption: Looking SE towards Castle Towers from just below the Black Tusk on perennial snowpack of the East Knob

PhotoDescr: This photo illustrates both the amount of perennial snow at this altitude in Garibaldi Provincial Park, as well as the fun that can be had on these relatively safe autumn snowpacks. This snowdrift was perhaps 5 metres high and a great place to give crampons a go and test out self-arresting technique for the first time. Interesting note is the Black Tusk had no snow on it to speak of. The black volcanic rock was warm.
