Panorama of the Entire Picket Range # 6614

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.04.29
Vantage Point: From North Hozomeen

Caption: The Quintessence of the North Cascades

PhotoDescr: I will not bother to name individual peaks here; consult the Red Beckey guide. However, the MacMillan Spires are at far left, Luna Peak is the bulky peak in the middle and Mount Challenger is at far right.

The fourteen summits of the Southern Pickets were traversed in 2003 by Mark Bunker, Colin Haley, and Wayne Wallace. About 50 technical pitches were climbed and the party rated the endeavor VI, 5.10+ The 2004 American Alpine Journal contains the complete story.

In 2004, an attempt was made to complete the equivalent journey in the Northern Pickets, starting from the north at Whatcom Peak (north of Challenger), but the party bailed down a steep couloir on the east face of Ghost Peak (the dark wall in the middle of the right side of the photo) after going through 40+ feet of webbing in the constant rappels necessary in traversing the summit ridges. See the cascadeclimbers trip report here.

In 2005 it was completed from south to north by Wayne Wallace and Josh Kaplan.
