Interesting Ice Cliff on "Pinecone Glacier" # 6477

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.

Vantage Point: From

Caption: An Ice Cliff on the "Pinecone Glacier"

PhotoDescr: This glacier sits in the basin between Gillespie and Peak 6500, and flows down to the left. It's quite a surprise to whack your way up through hemlock trees and blueberries to pop over the ridge and see all this ice! None of it is on the map....

In October 2003, a lake filled the basin below the ice cliffs and waves lapped at the "shore" below my feet. Obviously, the lake has drained leaving some collapsed ice blocks in its former bed. Will the lake be there again this summer? Round up a 4X4 and head up branch E-110 of the Mamquam road and find out!
