Heart Mountain # 6465

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2005.02.26
Vantage Point: From base of scramble route to the North

Caption: This photo shows the scramble route on Heart Mountain. It is pretty much a duplicate of the hilight photo for Heart which currently exists, although this one has better exposure.

PhotoDescr: Mark and I were looking for a little exercise at the end of February so we decided to scramble up Heart. It's more walk than scramble and the absolute lack of snow made it feel like June instead of February. The scramble route follows the interface of tree and rock at the center of the photo then turns left at the fold in the middle and heads up the broad left-to-right slanting rib to the summit.

Apparently the best part of the scramble is actualy continuing around the bowl after getting to the summit. Of course, we didn't know it at the time so we just came back down the same way.
