Vantage Point: From aircraft

Caption: A closer view of the summit area of Cirque Mountain

PhotoDescr: Another photo essay of Cirque Mountain shows the mountain as a whole. See Cirque Mountain in the Torngat Range. This view shows Cirque's summit area, which requires navigating a multitude of ridges and gullies to reach. Late May is still winter in the barren, windswept Torngats.

John Folinsbee, currently a wildlife biologist for the Alberta government, worked in a similar role for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s for Newfoundland and Labrador. The remoteness of the area required air access, and wildlife surveys were also done from aircraft.
