Mount McKinley from a Plane # 6348

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2003.07.05
Vantage Point: From

Caption: Mountaineers making their bid for the summit. The north summit is on upper left, Denali Pass is the obvious dip, and the main summit is outside picture on upper right.

PhotoDescr: Yeah, okay, I'm a jamming git, I flew up to see the summit. The mountaineers are hard to see. The camp is on the flat shelf near the bottom center of the photo. If you know the mountain then you might be able to pick out the climbers although it's made even more difficult because they are in shadow. They made their bid for the summit in perfect conditions, a beautiful day with hardly any wind. I've never been on a smoother plane ride, especially near mountains. Later that day I talked to a guy who took pictures of the climbers running out onto the summit. I suggested that he try to contact the climbers. I thought they might like a photo of their summit. Then again, maybe they felt the experience was ruined by all those damned planes.
