Rainbow over Miette # 612

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2001.07.07
Vantage Point: From Sulphur Skyline Trail

Caption: A rainbow stretches across the valley containing Miette Hot Springs in Jasper National Park.

PhotoDescr: A lucky combination of light rain and sunlight created a persistent rainbow as I dayhiked up to Sulphur Summit. Of the seven photos I made that include the rainbow, from several different points on the trail, this was the most successful.

The light spot in the centre of the picture beneath the rainbow is the Miette Hot Springs pool and parking area, the trailhead for this hike. The left skyline is the Miette Range, with part or all of Mount O'Hagan, Capitol Mountain, and Roche Miette visible. Roche Miette is more recognizable from the far end of the range. See photo xx1. In the distance is the Bosche Range, across the Athabasca River and the Yellowhead Highway. Nearer on the left is the northwest end of Sulphur Ridge. The ridge on the right is unnamed.
