East End of Rundle # 5703

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2004.08.01
Vantage Point: From Spray Lakes road, Goat Creek parking area

Caption: Looking up the East End of Rundle showing hikers' route

PhotoDescr: Spent some holiday time in the Rockies, with an itching desire to get up some peaks rather than always looking up at them. We were staying with some friends in Canmore for a few nights, and decided to head up EEOR. A good description of the route in Alan Kane's scrambles book directed us to the Goat Creek parking area, from where this photo was shot. We followed the hikers route up the forested ridge in the foreground, up to the scree and finally through the rockband and to the top. Great views of Ha Ling peak, Mt Lawrence Grassi, Lady Macdonald, Canmore, the Bow Valley and countless other peaks greeted us. The weather was fantastic, and it gave us a chance to view a bunch of other mountains for future outings. Also much less busy than nearby Ha Ling peak, we only saw two other people on our hike (saw many many more heading for Ha Ling).
