An Impossible Thing of Beauty... or a Crumbling Choss-Pile? # 5084

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1996.09.11
Vantage Point: From the summit of Mt. Kentigern

Caption: The southwest ridge and summit of Recondite Peak from the summit of Mt. Kentigern. Concealed in this view is the problematic notch, high on the ridge, just before the summit.

PhotoDescr: I'd call it a thing of beauty, but I haven't attempted Recondite Peak. Geologically speaking, Recondite is something of a front-range anomoly - a combination of castellated and dip-slope formations in which the castellated form triumphs by a nose. I took the photo from point-blank range on the summit of Mt. Kentigern. Rick Collier and I walked to the top of Kentigern on day four of a five-day trip to the Clearwater Pass area.
