Waterfalls and Welch Peak # 4612

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2003.10.17
Vantage Point: From the south shore of Williamson Lake

Caption: Falls from Williamson Lake, with Welch Peak towering above. False summit is in foreground with the true summit behind. South ridge (class 3) is the left skyline, with the top of the east ridge (difficult and loose class 4) on the right. Southeast face is a quicker, less scenic alternative, and is not shown in great detail from this vantage point. It more or less goes from the right side up the scree slope beneath a gendarme on the east ridge, to the left below the true summit. Long but rewarding day, car to car, on all routes.

PhotoDescr: I went up to Williamson Lake and headed up Welch, via the south ridge. I attempted this two weeks earlier but ran into bad weather and a fair amount of snow. Amazing what a little warm spell and a hell of a lot of rain can do.
