Floe Lake and the Rockwall # 445

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1993.08.05
Vantage Point: From north shore of Floe Lake

Caption: The southern section of the Rockwall stretches south from Floe Lake.

PhotoDescr: Two days after a solo 38-kilometer day hike along the northern section of the Rockwall in Kootenay National Park. see Dayhiking the Rockwall. I thought it would be fun to see the other end of the famous formation. I drove back out from Calgary to hike the 22-kilometer round trip to Floe Lake. After taking this photo, on the return to the trailhead, I had my first and so far only backcountry encounter with a grizzly bear. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take a picture of that; neither of us stuck around for long.
