Garibaldi - Climbing the Northwest Ridge # 431

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1998.05.03
Vantage Point: From Northwest Ridge

Caption: Traversing high on the Northwest Ridge on Mount Garibaldi. The crux of the route was crossing the rock outcrop behind the climber.

PhotoDescr: In May 1998, the bergschrund was open and the Northeast Ridge was corniced so, I chose to climb the Northwest Ridge variation. I shared the route with a ropeteam of three climbers. Snow quality was borderline and each step had to be carefully planned while traversing the steep slope. Any mistake would have been deadly.
