The Wine Spires and Silver Star Mountain # 4274

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2003.08.31
Vantage Point: From near a camping area below Burgundy col

Caption: On the left is the Wine Spires starting with Burgundy Spire (which is the most commonly climbed) The high peak on the right is Silver Star Mountain (and is located two thirds of the way across the photo from the left). Some of the other names of the Wine Spires include Chianti Spire, Pernod and Chablis, although some of them are difficult to see in this picture. Burgundy col is on the extreme left and part of the route up can be seen as well.

PhotoDescr: This photo was taken on the way down from Burgundy col after a failed attempt at climbing Silver Star Mountain (due to crevasses on the glacier.) I spent a good portion of the afternoon watching several groups of climbers ascend Burgundy Spire from the col. Looks like an excellent route on good rock and appears to be quite challenging.

For more detailed info on individual climbs in the Wine Spires, see "Selected Climbs in the Cascades" by the Mountaineers.
