Lincoln Peak - North Face # 3837

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2003.05
Vantage Point: From Coleman Glacier

Caption: The "untouched-for-a-good-reason" north face of Lincoln Peak.

PhotoDescr: This face is a pretty imposing and scary looking prospect, glaring at the weekend masses as they glide or post-hole their way up the standard route on Mt. Baker.

Taken during a spring ski trip up Baker. The madding crowds aside (actually on this day there were only about ten people on the glacier), there are some excellent spring ski runs to be had on the Coleman Glacier. There is, however, a narrow window for the optimum snow conditions on hot days, after the crust of night has softened and before the slush of midday has formed.
