The Black Tusk # 368

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1989.09.15
Vantage Point: From near Gentian Peak.

Caption: The Black Tusk from the East, near Gentian Peak in Garibaldi Park.

PhotoDescr: The Black Tusk is the only part still standing of what used to be a much larger volcano that eroded away. The lighter terrain in front of The Black Tusk contains a trail (visible if you look closely) that leads to below the step on the southwest ridge (left skyline). The standard route to the summit The Black Tusk involves scrambling up a gully in this step. The character in the foreground is Jim Elson who still owes me $5.
