Locomotive at Dawn # 3629

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2003.02
Vantage Point: From Semaphore Lakes Area

Caption: The southern stalwart of the Train Glacier group of peaks rising up at sunrise.

PhotoDescr: The balmy and dry February of 2003 allowed us to drive all the way to Railroad Pass and get an unexpected winter trip into upper Donelly Creek, where the snowmobiles reign over all! Still, some very nice skiing. Gaining the toe of the Train Galcier might be a bit tricky in bad conditions; on this day the snow was quite solid and we were able to head right up the near-forty degree slope.

East faces at sunrise in the winter have got to be some of the nicest light conditions for mountain photography in terms of bringing about colour contrasts.
