Yellow Lady Slipper on the Berg Lake Trail # 339

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1999.07.10
Vantage Point: From Berg Lake Trail

Caption: These members of the orchid family grow in abundance near the Whitehorn Campground in Mount Robson Provincial Park.

PhotoDescr: The Yellow Lady (also Lady's or Ladies') Slipper (Cypripedium calceolus) prefers damp areas in lower elevations, making the area north of Kinney Lake in Mount Robson Provincial Park well-suited for it. Located directly west of the massive mountain, this area receives a lot of local rainfall when Pacific air masses hit the mountain. Having failed in my attempt to dayhike the 17 km to Berg Lake because of a shortage of water, I consoled myself on the return by getting out my extension tubes and photographing the flora below the Valley of 1000 Falls.
