Wedge - North Arete # 337

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1998.05.31
Vantage Point: From the saddle in North Arete

Caption: Adrian Rothwell finishes the descent of the North Arete of Wedge Mountain in Spring conditions. Perry Beck is in the background, starting on the lower section.

PhotoDescr: We had ascended Wedge by the Northeast Couloir and the North Arete was our descent route. We had to carefully pick our line between cornices and steep snow. Cornices had formed on the west side of the upper Arete (climber's right) and on the east side of the lower arete (climber's left). This meant that we had to cross the sharp arete from one side to the other. Picking the right place to cross was crucial: fun memories.
