Mount Columbia From Near Snow Dome # 3122

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2000.06.01
Vantage Point: From Columbia Icefield near Snow Dome

Caption: Photo shows Mount Columbia looking across the gorge of the Columbia Glacier

PhotoDescr: Although the normal route to Mount Columbia's summit is rated "non-technical" in Dougherty's guide, the frequency of bad weather and the length of the usual approach up the Athabasca Glacier make Alberta's highest point, and the Canadian Rockies' second highest peak, a sufficient challenge for any mountaineer. The climbing route is on the top of the snow slopes shown on the peak. The cliff drops off into the columbia branch of the Athabasca River.
