Anniversary Glacier - Crevasses on the Playing Field # 308

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1998.10.11
Vantage Point: From Joffre Peak

Caption: This is an educational shot of Anniversary Glacier and Mount Matier showing the open crevasses on this favorite slope of ski tourers: beware in low snow years (i.e. 2001) and in Spring when snow bridges weaken.

PhotoDescr: At the end of a week-end teaching basic mountaineering skills, I scrambled up the east side of Joffre Peak to take some pictures of Anniversary Glacier in late conditions. First snow of the approaching winter season had sprinkled the area. It was late in the day and another weather system was coming in, hence the dark feel of the picture.
