The Northeast Face of Caspar # 2695

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2001.12.30
Vantage Point: From Van Horlick FSR

Caption: The NE face of Caspar, main summit on left with NE ridge on right.

PhotoDescr: In 1986 Fairley reported that this peak was "probably unclimbed" though it along with most of the other peaks around it in the Van Horlick area were apparently fully explored and climbed only a short time later. The area south of Caspar looks to offer some great weekend ski runs. Though I haven't fully examined the reportedly quick access from the Caspar FSR side, spur roads run to within 500' of tree line from Van Horlick FSR. The NE ridge of Caspar is about 1000' and looks like it would be a nice moderate snow climb in the spring.
