Emmons Glacier Boardwalk # 2657

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 2001.07
Vantage Point: From top of Interglacier

Caption: The endless cavalcade up the Upper Emmons Glacier towards Camp Schurman. If you look closely you can see the enitre route stamped out as a faint line coming in from middle right, ascending The Corridor in centre, and then cutting back right. We received quite the tongue lashing at Camp Schurman from the Ranger for not roping up for the last stretch into camp. Maybe the crevasses actually move in the US, I don't know.

PhotoDescr: A planned attempt on Liberty Ridge had its course changed to the Emmons Glacier route (second most popular route after the Disappointment Cleaver) after we were informed by Park Rangers that the recent warm temperatures had caused frequent rockfall in the vicinity of Thumb Rock, and that one party had baseball-sized chunks come ripping through their tent wall in the middle of the night. As it was, one of my partners blacked out at 14,000', so it was probably for the best that we didn't go up Liberty Ridge!
