"5.9 fingercrack" on the Camel # 231

Below is a description of the photograph you were looking for, and the circumstances surrounding the photo.
Date: 1994.08.24
Vantage Point: From base of Camel

Caption: Andy Cairns leads the "5.9 fingercrack" on The Camel, a subpeak of Crown Mountain.

PhotoDescr: The route is described in the Fairley guidebook as a "5.9 fingercrack". I was glad Andy led it because it widens from finger to fist and it sure felt harder than 5.9 to me! Of course it was my first climb in four months, too... Take gear to #2 Camalot/# 3 Friend. Can also be easily top roped from the rappel station in the Camel's neck. The obvious chimney thing just left is called "5.6 offwidth". I can only say, 5.6 my ass!
