Caption: The heart-shaped leaves of the yellow pond lily [i](Nuphar variegatum)[/i] adorn the still waters of Virl Lake in Jasper National Park. Framed by the end of the lake are the Whistlers, accessible by the Jasper Tramway or by the Whistlers Trail, and Indian Ridge.

PhotoDescr: Having arrived a half-day early for a GMMC trip on the Skyline trail, I decided to try a half-day hike to warm up. Browsing through my trail guide, I found this trail, which I had never known about. It proved a pleasant walk through montane forest.
